David Jacobs, Spyder's founder and chairman was born in Montreal, Canada, and began skiing at age 13. At 21, he won the Quebec Kandahar, and from 1957 through 1961 was a member of the Canadian National Ski Team.
1978 - Spyder founder David Jacobs creates and produces the first ever padded race sweater. Race enthusiasts around the world immediately flock to this ground breaking new piece of equipment.
1986 - Building off the popularity of the padded race sweater, Spyder develops and produces the first ever speed suit. Utilizing advancaed materials and construction, the speed suit helps propel racers to new speeds and records.
